每种网络协议都能够创造出大量的广播流量。

大量或者过量的广播包将影响网络设备的性能。

广播抑制功能防止广播风暴干扰 LAN端口的正常工作。

ASW25(config-if)#storm-control action ?
  shutdown  Shutdown this interface if a storm occurs
  trap      Send SNMP trap if a storm occurs （本人理解当有广播发生会通过SNMP发送到装有SNMP软件的电脑上面）
对于IOS设备，用户可以将设备执行的操作从默认的Trap行为改成shutdown行为。这个shutdonw是当有广播超过你设定的值，就会shutdown,
必须手动no shutdown 才可以激活端口。

  broadcast  Broadcast address storm control
  multicast  Multicast address storm control
  unicast    Unicast address storm control

后面有4个选项：第一个是采取动作，第二个广播，第三个多播，第四个单播。

举例：

ASW25(config-if)#storm-control broadcast level 0.25

输入0.00 表示所有的广播。

输入0.01 表示抑制超过总流量0.01%的广播包。

输入0.50 表示抑制超过总流量0.50的广播包。

输入1  表示超过总流量1%的广播包。

 

协议过滤

只能在access端口所支持，不能在trunk和3层接口上。

可在端口上配置协议功能来过滤或阻止基于协议的泛洪包（广播，多播及未知的单播）。

STP CDP VTP 这些是不会阻止的。

协议过滤功能可以阻止IP.IPX.APPTalk。VINES及DECnet的流量（这两个网上有详细的介绍）

在交换机上启用协议过滤功能。
